In Hawaii, the use of abortion pills has tripled over the last decade, now accounting for three out of every four abortions, while surgical abortions have declined to their lowest number in 10 years. The increase in chemical abortions is partly attributed to the availability of mail-order abortion pills and limited physical abortion facilities, with concerns raised about the higher risk of adverse events associated with the abortion pill compared to surgical abortions and other medications like acetaminophen.
